The Perfect Cast:
Fly Casting is not difficult to
master. In fact it is easy!
Recommended Prerequisites: None
A “perfect cast”, or a cast that
catches a fish, focuses on achieving
that objective rather than preparing
you for a World Champion Casting
contest. Yes, you will learn to get
all the distance you will ever need
but not at the expense of accuracy
and proper fly presentation. This
program teaches you how to cast in
a step by step, easy to follow
manner. The 16 by 9 format lets
you see everything about the cast.
The program starts with the
basics teaching the right way to
make the forward cast, roll cast,
and other often used cast and
then proceeds with more
specialized forms of casting such
as the single and double haul
cast and one and two-handed
spey cast.
It is designed to interactively
teach "you" how to cast. It is not
something for you to just sit back
and watch only to envy some one
else's casting abilities.
Focus on accuracy then distance.
The father you cast, the more
difficult it becomes to be
accurate. Most of the time,
accuracy is far more important
than distance.
In teaching fly, casting we will
usually be referring to
straightening out the line and
leader, something necessary to
increase the distance cast, of
course. Later you will see that in
certain fishing scenarios,
completely straightening out your
line and leader is not what you
will be trying to do at all. Often,
the presentation of the fly means
the difference in success or
failure. Rarely, except in special
cases, is distance a big factor in
success.
